Born and raised In Montebello, NY, one of five children, Erik being the youngest. Erik grew up playing his youth soccer at PDA (Players Development Academy) In Somerville, New Jersey. Also, a member of the Eastern New York ODP, Regional and National Team. As a senior in High school He was discovered by Czech powerhouse AC Sparta Prague during a trip with the Regional team and was eventually signed by Sparta. Spending two seasons on their reserve team before joining the Chicago Fire in the fall of 2007. In 2009 Hort joined Maccabi Tel Aviv F.C. In the Israeli First Division where he signed for a year before moving to Hapoel Ra'anana also in the First Division, fortunate enough to earned 3 caps with the United States U-20 men's national soccer team in 2006.

Erik began with the Chicago Fire in 2012 as a Coach and Assistant Director of Coaching. Overseeing multiple teams as well as coaching both club and Academy level teams. Most recently Erik was with IMG Academy as the U15 National Elite Head Coach and the U14 DA Head Coach. Currently holds an A – Youth License (2018) and a B License (2013).
